About me
I am an author, CPA, online marketer, business consultant, and, most importantly, a follower of Christ. My name is Roy Chan, and I am Chinese, born in 1975, with the majority of my life spent in Hong Kong, complemented by a few years studying in Canada and Indonesia.
Last week, an internet friend asked me why I seem to embody the characteristics of an "American Christian." This question took me by surprise, considering the term's less-than-positive connotation.
"American Christians" are often seen as individuals who embrace worldly pleasures while identifying as Christians, perhaps attending church regularly but lacking a deep understanding of God.
Approaching 50, I reflect on the Chinese belief that by this age, one should understand the "fate" of man – a fate we all share, ultimately leading to death. At 40, realizing the inevitability of life's journey, I made a drastic shift. Moving from being a CPA/business consultant, guiding companies through going public in a global consulting firm, I turned towards theology.
After five years of theological studies in Indonesia under preacher Stephen Tong, I returned to Hong Kong, started a small church, and served for 27 months. During the period, I realized the best way to serve, in my case, is not on the pulpit and my true calling emerged in online marketing, allowing me to be a day-to-day missionary without the constraints of traditional preaching.
Hence, mark1615.org was born, fulfilling the command of Jesus Christ: "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”
I invite you to join hands with the mission of mark1615.org.
